Get Rid Of Fog

Ever wished you had windscreen wipers underwater? You DID defog your mask before you started your dive but somehow it’s fogged up again and you don’t really want to take it off just to clear the view. You know the cold water will hit your face, your eyes will sting and for a few seconds while you rinse your mask you won’t be able to see anything at all. Well, this device may help.

It’s a sort of underwater windscreen wiper called WIDE-I. This wiper is a manual device that lets you slide a magnet on the outside of the mask, which, in turn, moves another magnet inside the mask to wipe away the fog.

If you normally use a proprietary de-fog solution you will know already that this can wear off during a dive. If you dip your Wide-I in de-fog before you start you can actually reapply the solution during the dive.

If you are worried that a magnet may fall off, rest assured. The manufacturers of Wide-I tell us that we can have confidence in the strength of the magnets to ensure they stay
in place the whole time, even during an awkward entry into the water.
